In 2019, the World Women's Handball Championship is held in Japan - and hummel® is a proud sponsor of the tournament. As a tribute to the beautiful country of Japan, we have created a limited edition of the popular AEROCHARGE ENGINEERED STZ. The design is made in collaboration with our Japanese office and seeks to celebrate the hos country and its unique culture. The shoe's flowerished upper is inspired by the beautiful Japanese gardens and the famous Japanese cherry blossoms, while the colourway and inlay sole pattern pays a special homage to the Japanese flag.
The shoe features a low-cut silhouette alongside a visible heel counter with Twin Heel Control for a stabilised fit, grip and bounce. Finally, the shoe is placed atop our lightweight AEROCHARGE outsole offering explosive take-offs.
Several players such as Danish Lotte Grigel, German Julia Behnke and French Laura Flippes will play in the shoe during the Championship.
HANDBALL CREATES HOPE FOR VULNERABLE GIRLS IN SIERRA LEONE
hummel is proud sponsor of the International Handball Federation (IHF). On the latest IHF congress in Gothenburg, we introduced the new HAND initiative. The initiative was welcomed, and is fully in line with one of IHF’s defined focus areas: promoting women’s handball worldwide.
Now, hummel has chosen to highlight the fight for women’s rights and inclusion in handball by creating a campaign in connection with the Women’s Handball World Championship in Japan.
hummel is the official sponsor of the “Player of the Match” awards, and gives each player of the match (96 matches in total), the opportunity to donate hummel handball equipment to two handball teams from HAND.
All in all, we expect to donate 1300 sets of handball equipment for HAND and the girls in Sierra Leone.
hummel is looking forward to following HAND in the future and watch the sport of handball grow in Sierra Leone. Furthermore, we are excited to have the opportunity to continue our fight for girls’ rights.
