Mission: More exercise and presence in everyday life
Is it difficult for you to find the time and inspiration to get you and the kids up and about? You're not alone – it can be hard to do it all!
Here at hummel KIDS, we're on a mission. We want to make it easy and fun for families with young children to get more exercise and quality time in a busy everyday life. The Danish Health Authority's latest study on children's exercise habits shows that three out of four children between the age of 11–15 years are not as active as official recommendations. We want to help improve this.
The benefits of physical activity
Together with Ida Enghave and Karsten Bjerring – the authors behind the book 'Bevæg dig med dit barn' (Exercise with Your Child) – and a number of voluntary hummel KIDS families, we have tested fun activities for children and parents to play together in order to bond and improve health.
Not only do active children have better fitness levels and motor skills, stronger bones and better learning ability, but physical activity also has a positive effect on mental health, such as improved self-esteem, self-confidence, and social interactions. As a parent, you can help create healthy habits for your children that can last a lifetime.
Fun activities for the whole family
The activities are suitable for all sizes of families with children up to age 12 and are divided into recommended age groups so that children are challenged at the appropriate level. Several of the activities work well across all age groups. Each activity improves motor skills, fitness and/or strength – all while strengthening the relationship between parent and child.
Most of the activities fit into normal everyday life, either at home or in the garden, and requires no more than 10 or 20 minutes to do – without need for advanced equipment. No experience necessary to get started, just the will to get moving together. So, what are you waiting for? 3, 2, 1, go!
