WILLY CHAVARRIA x HUMMEL
Coming Spring / Summer 2019
Willy Chavarria x hummel
New York Menswear Designer Willy Chavarria and Danish sports brand hummel have joined forces to create their first collaborative apparel concept. The collection will launch on July 9th in New York City as part of the WILLY CHAVARRIA runway show at New York Fashion Week.
The collection identifies soccer as a global game of unity that transcends race and class.
As a continuation of his FW18 season, the collection is branded with the numbers 5683 which are the numeric corresponding numbers for L-O-V-E on the American digital keypad. A story of global connectivity is found throughout the collections messaging.
As part of the hummel team sponsorship program, Willy and hummel will be offering sponsorship to New York City soccer players both documented and undocumented U.S. citizens offering support to immigrants often slighted by discord in American politics. The Mexican and Latin American recipients of the sponsorship will be the first to wear the new collection.
Part of the concept of the collection is to offer a wide range of price points which position the collection to sell at both high-tier retailers as well as with every day sporting goods stores. As soccer is a universal game for all people of all colour and classes, so shall be the collection.
Along with the collection will be a campaign which supports the dignity of Mexican and Latin American people living in the United States and offers a special light on those who play soccer.
Willy Chavarria is a Mexican-American designer based in New-York.
“I incorporate my personal style into the relaxed attitude of my clothing collection. I design with an open mind and invite progressive philosophies and ideas which translate into my apparel. It’s intended to be non-discriminating and genderless self-empowering.”
